We moved here in 2011 to establish a smallholding centred on our beekeeping. We have kept bees since 2001 and have been making and selling honey and beeswax products since 2004. We both have part time employment related to beekeeping, working from home, and we have two self-catering cottages on the farm available as holiday lets. We sometimes host Wwoof volunteers (World-wide opportunities on organic farms). They helped us to establish a polytunnel and productive vegetable and fruit gardens.
We keep colonies of honeybees at home and at several other sites within a few miles. We maintain a glass-sided observation hive which we often take along to shows or markets or when giving talks to community groups and it always proves very popular. We are involved in teaching beekeeping and mentoring new beekeepers with the Meirionnydd Beekeepers Association.
The smallholding is ever-changing but generally includes woodland, various chickens, Muscovy ducks, , sometimes pigs & turkeys, vegetable and fruit gardens and lots of bracken and bramble!
Other interests include: hill walking; making wine, jams and preserves; woodwork; Welsh language; mountain rescue.
